Go Ahead, Take A Break!

Just finished school/college? You have some time on your hands? Even if it’s just a long weekend, it’s a chance to be free!

Utilizing that time is not what is important, it’s how you utilize it. Sure, you’ll have to get ahead academically and take a few little courses here and there before you join college or your job but make sure you spend enough and more of your time with the right company, doing fun and harmless things.

We go through so much stress and drama in our lives every single day. Even the ones with the boring lives. Or rather, especially the ones with monotonous lives. Drag your friends out for a little trip and keep it interesting all the way! We all need breaks every now and then so take them when you can!

You might have heard happy people say “it’s not work if you enjoy it” but not all of us can or get to do that so it’s okay for us to take some time to actually do things we might enjoy once in a while. Yes, some of us have to work hard just to survive and get by. But if you’re reading this, chances are, you’re not one of those unfortunate souls stuck in war zones, who really have no choice but to think about true survival everyday. So stop worrying so much and actually learn to take a break when you’re blessed enough to have the opportunity to take one.

Work hard. Dedicate yourself to what you do and give your best. But when you’re not working, give it your all to relaxing as well. But don’t over indulge in either. It’s all about balance. Relaxation is not about taking a day off just to sleep when an old friend is back in town. If you’re really that exhausted, sure, catch up on your sleep. Just don’t blow off chances to have fun with people who actually want to have fun with you! Those are rare!

Sometimes, despite our busy schedules, we may find ourselves doing things that seem to give us a pattern that tells us when we can simply take off with a friend and roam around the city or take a short trip at given moments. If you find yourself in such a pattern, pick a friend or a bunch of friends for company and go to places and actually do fun things! Destressing is one of the most important things in life.

If you have a car or a motorcycle, take it for a spin around the place! There’s no better joy than travelling with the right company. That is medicine. It makes you see new colours better than acid, makes you feel higher than your stoner friend sitting there rolling his next joint, just chillin out.

Taking a break to relax means you do things to take your mind off your daily life and you actually commit to it. After all, you owe yourself that much. That’s what you work so hard for. Even when you’ve been slacking off, take a break from slacking off and do something productive for a day. You’ll feel your guilt and laziness weakening and you won’t feel the pressing need to not-do-things-and-feel-bad-about-it-but-slack-off-anyway. Just clear your head when you must and keep moving forward. It’s as simple as that.
